Nigerians residence in Turkey, Malta, UK and Nigeria joined 7,500 foreign visitors from 108 countries including Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Libya, Lebanon, Macedonia, Tunisia and Russia, who attended the 23rd Eurasia Packaging Exhibition. The fair was held from 25th to 28th October 2017, inside the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center, Istanbul, Turkey. The guest visitor country of the year 2017 was Morocco. The prestigious packaging fairs was co-organized by The Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD), a member of World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and REED TÜYAP Fair Organization. The Fair hosted 60,000 industry professionals/visitors, including 7,500 foreign visitors. The show was supported by 1,122 companies and company´ representatives, from 43 countries.
Alhaji Ahmed Omah, Executive Director of Institute of Packaging Nigeria (IOPN) and 1st Vice President of Africa Packaging Organisation (APO) who lead a Nigeria delegation, had this to say “I am very excited as Nigeria Packaging Booth standout and was center of attraction for most visitors. We would have had more delegates from Nigeria despite the Visa Processing challenges”. We thank REED TÜYAP Fair Organization for the partnership and looking forward to a larger delegation in 2018. Nigeria Packaging was the only exhibitor from West Africa. APO & IOPN are both members of WPO. Mr. Omah is also the Editorial Director of Nigeria Packaging Magazine, the Premier publication of the Nigeria Packaging Industry, Published by Graphics Packaging Communications LLC.
According to the organizers: “the target this year was North Africa”. Zeki Sarıbekir, ASD President, stated: “We need new markets. That´s why we have brought exclusive procurement committees from Morocco and Nigeria; our target was North Africa. We are going to continue to increase the market share that we have gained from gaining new markets from the world in the following years.”Sarıbekir also emphasized the importance of the Eurasia Packaging Exhibition for Turkey. “We continue in our aim becoming the package Center of Eurasia. In Eurasia Packaging Fair this year we combined flexible and rigid plastic, glass, metal packaging, paper, cardboard, corrugated cardboard, wood packaging, packaging machines, label and other auxiliary packaging materials manufacturers and packaging designers. We hosted more than 1,000 procurement committees from Germany, Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Algeria, France, Iraq, England, Iran, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Macedonia, Egypt, Tunisia, Russia, Jordan and Greece. We foresee that Turkish packaging exports will surpass US$ 4 billion in 2018.”
Winners of 13th National Packaging Design Student Competition was announced at the Eurasia Packaging fair. Students from Istanbul Medipol University, Başkent University, Bahçeşehir University, Middle East Technical University, Bilgi University and Erciyes University were recipients of awards from the 10 universities throughout Turkey; there were 18 finalists.
